How to Consign with Us

HOW TO CONSIGN WITH US

1. Please Schedule an Appointment.

First time consignors should make an appointment, call 334-475-3334. We are currently waiving the $10 to set up a new account unless you are only selling formals.

2. Prepare Your Items.

Please  go over our ABC’S Checklist very carefully.  Please bring as many things as possible on hangers.  It is much easier to process and it tells us you have taken the time to sort through them. If items are not on hangers, we will give you hangers and ask you to hang them when you arrive. Items will NOT be accepted in garbage bags.

Age: Items must not be more than 3-5 years old and not show signs of age such as fading, yellowing, or being out of shape.

Brand: Items must be a brand we accept. See our “Brands Not Accepted” list. We rarely accept items without labels.

Condition: Items MUST be clean and in excellent condition. Check for the following: stains, soiling, deodorant marks, holes, pilling, wrinkling, fading, odors, loose or missing decorations, hem & edge wear, missing buttons, broken zippers, shrunken, stretched or pets hair

Season
Items are consigned for 60 days (formals for 6 months), so please consider what people will be buying during this period when selecting your items to consign.

Spring Items: February—July
Summer Items: March—July
Fall Items: August—January
Winter Items: November—December

FORMALS: Anytime

HOLIDAY Items: Holiday items must be picked up within a week after the holiday or they will be pulled an donated at our discretion.

Some of our favorite brands are Ann Taylor, J. Crew, Le Suit, & Kasper.

Jewelry

We accept gold and sterling silver, designer jewelry with signatures, gemstone jewelry, semi-precious stone jewelry and artisan jewelry. Brighton, Premiere Designs, Chico's, sterling silver, and complete sets are good sellers.

Note:

Yard sale leftovers do not sell well. We recommend that you bring us your best items to sell. We can get you more than you would earn at a yard sale.  Have your yard sale with the items that we can't sell.

Brands We Don't Accept

People often ask why we don't accept certain brands. Most of the time it is because it is a lower priced discount store brand or a brand that doesn't sell well in our store. ___I understand that I can keep up with my account balance by using my online consignor access invitation that was emailed to me and either; pick up money owed to me, or request to pay $1 and have a check mailed to me.

___I agree to allow Consignment Cat to deduct $1 per month as a maintenance fee until I pick up the money owed to me .

We have 4 options.

  1. SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT
    (preferred for new consignors)

If you would like us to inspect your drop-offs while you are here, you will need to make an appointment so that we can make sure we are staffed and can give you the attention we would like to. We prefer to make appointments Tuesday through Thursday between 1pm and 5pm, but will gladly make exceptions as needed. Please let us know  approximately how many items you will be bringing in.  Don’t forget to bring them on hangers. We can provide hangers for you.

  1. EXPRESS DROP-OFF:

No appointment needed, 12 items or less on hangers for existing consignors. We will inspect your items after you drop-off and donate anything that doesn’t pass inspection. This is the easiest selection for us. We don’t have notify you and find a place to save the items until you pick them up.

  1. LIMITED EXPRESS DROP-OFF:

Closet Purging Tips

How to Consign - Closet Cleaning Tips

CLOSET DETOX - TOSS, DONATE, OR CONSIGN?

Let me help you make your closet full of clothes that make you feel good!

I like to go through my closet, item by item.  I like to start at the left and work to the right.  You can choose any direction you wish.  I use a 3 step approach.

1. Here are the questions I ask myself during the first step. If the answer is yes, then toss or donate.

Is the item ripped, badly stained, or worn beyond repair?

Does it have little fuzz balls?

Has it lost its shape?

Is it a past trend?

2. Now it’s time for the second step:  If the answer is yes to all of the questions, you may keep it, otherwise, consign (be sure to complete step 1 and use our guidelines):

Would I buy it today?

Does it fit my overall style?

Do I like the feel of the material?

Does the cut suit my body and make me confident?

Do I have other things that I always choose over this?

3. For the third step:

I recommend that you turn all your hangers around facing the opposite direction and after you wear something, put it back facing the correct direction.  Next time you purge you’ll know what you’ve worn. This is also a good time to organize your closet by category and color to make finding outfits simpler.

What you wear speaks volumes about you!
